OW International Diver Certification Course
OW stands for the PADI Open Water Diver course. This is one of the most popular diving courses offered by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), designed to teach the basic knowledge and skills of diving, enabling students to dive safely in open water.
The course typically consists of three parts: learning theoretical knowledge, confined water training, and open water dives:
Theoretical Knowledge Learning:
Students will learn the basic principles of diving through reading materials, watching videos, and attending classes. This includes understanding pressure and buoyancy control, breathing techniques, equipment use and maintenance, and more.
Confined Water Training:
In a controlled water environment, students will practice under the guidance of a qualified dive instructor. This includes assembling and using dive equipment, practicing basic skills (such as underwater breathing and pressure equalization), and handling emergency situations.
Open Water Dives:
Students will apply their learned skills and knowledge in actual open water dives. Usually, students need to complete a certain number of training dives and supervised dives to achieve certification.
Upon completing the course, students will receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification. This is a globally recognized diving certificate that allows them to dive in open water, typically limited to a depth of 18 meters (60 feet).
